Even at their most effective – and draconian – containment strategies have only slowed the spread of the respiratory disease Covid-19 and not cured it leading to World Health Organization to finally declare is as a pandemic, all eyes have turned to the prospect of a vaccine, because only a vaccine can prevent people from getting sick, and also can be used to boost up the immunity.
About 35 companies and academic institutions are racing neck to neck in developing such a vaccine, and at least four of them have started testing them on animals. The first of which – produced by Boston-based biotech firm Moderna – is likely to enter the human trials very soon.
Let’s hope that soon we have a Vaccine for this dreadful viral disease which has engulfed 202 countries till now
